Valtra pulling team on the road again

The Valtra Shell Pulling Team is on the road again. The team will compete this summer in at least 12 competitions throughout Western and Northern Europe.

The highlight of the season is the European Championships, which will be held this year in Alahärmä, Finland on 4 September. Valtra is the main sponsor of the event.

The team is entering four tractors if Pro Stock category this season: Sigma Power, Caesar, Doris and Countdown. Pekka and Matti Herlevi will serve as both drivers and mechanics. Johanna Herlevi will be on maternity leave at the start of the summer, but plans to participate the European Championships in September.

In addition to the Valtra Shell Pulling Team, other teams driving Valtra tractors this year in the Pro Stock category of the Euro Cup include the successful Dutch team Next Sensation, the British duo Ice Bear and Baby Bear, and the Finnish team The Eagle.

Pulling team´s tractors produce more than 2000 horsepower and 2000 Nm of torque at over 6000 rpm. During pulls the rear tyres spin at more than 130 km/h.

Bronze in the season opener

The Valtra Shell Pulling Team’s Matti Herlevi took third place in the Pro Stock category with his tractor Caesar in the opening event held in Lidköping, Sweden, on 20 May. Countdown and Sigma Power driven by Pekka Herlevi placed fourth and ninth respectively, while Doris driven by Matti came in fourteenth.

“The competition was not perfect for us, but it was still a relatively good start to the season. Caesar and Countdown are well placed at the start of the Euro Cup season. Sigma also earned five cup points, which isn’t too bad. Doris fortunately qualifies automatically for the European Championships having taken gold last year,” reports Pekka Herlevi.

The track in Lidköping was extremely dry and grippy, which was an advantage for nose-heavy tractors. Pro Stock was the last category to run in the evening and also the most popular. Altogether around 10,000 spectators were on hand to watch the competition in the mild spring weather.
